February 2021
Belgian Prime Minister Annemie Hillebrand receives a cryptic video message during Question Hour in Parliament: "If the lights go back on, your daughter dies." What do the kidnappers want from them? At the exact same time, the Belgian power grid collapses. A nationwide blackout. In order to investigate the kidnapping, she'l...
Michael finally puts the pieces together as Annemie goes to confront the kidnapper. She learns that the motive behind the blackout is tied to her past political decisions, but her only concern is saving her daughter. Is she too late?
Investigator Michael manages to uncover who was behind the power outage, while his colleague learns of Elke's relationship with the daughter of Annemie's political rival. Seeing her country paralysed and in chaos pressures Annemie into making a tough decision.
Michael's investigation reveals several players: Green-Right activists, the nuclear plant's VP, and a group of potential terrorists. Herman asks Erwin to help keep the power out to protect Elke while Annemie meets their daughter's secret girlfriend.
Annemie has decided to do something about the blackout, but when she gets stonewalled, she suspects political sabotage. Meanwhile, Nathalie starts to suspects that Michael is hiding something about Elke. Is Charlotte hiding something too?
Lana tries to find Rico and learns of a new connection to the nuclear plant. Charlotte confesses to Annemie that Erwin might be constructing a new power plant. When a body is found at the perpetrator's hideout, Annemie prepares for the worst.
The intention for the stolen mox is revealed, but one of the key players is dead. Annemie goes on the offensive against Erwin but is met with another obstacle. There is a major change in Belgium's blackout situation, but Elke's status is unknown.
After Annemie makes her first public appearance to address the blackout and the future of energy in Belgium, she and Michael get caught in a gunfight with the Kurdish resistance fighters, and she gets a warning from Elke's kidnappers.
As Annemie tries to figure out how the kidnapper knew about the investigation, she gets a demand from him to "tell the truth". What would happen if she came clean about the blackout? And is the kidnapper someone from the inner circle?
Annemie receives another call from the kidnapper who accuses her of lying. Michael gets a significant lead on Elke's location and the identity of her kidnapper is revealed, but someone very close to Annemie could also be involved.
