Bodyguard is a British police and political thriller that was written by British writer and director Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty, Bodies) and produced by ITV Studios for the BBC. The series consists of six episodes with a length of around an hour and stars Scottish actor Richard Madden (Game of Thrones, Medici: Masters of Florence) as Scottish Afghanistan war veteran PS David Budd and British actress Sophie Rundle (Peaky Blinders, Gentleman Jack) as David's wife and mother of their two children Vicky Budd. Bodyguard focuses on different social topics, including government monitoring of private information, as well as PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) in war veterans. The series has received numerous awards and award nominations, including a Golden Globe for Richard Madden as Best Actor in a Television Series Drama and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in the categories Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.
