Escape to the Chateau is a documentary series from the British Channel 4 network. The series follows the story of Dick Strawbridge and Angela Adoree as they buy a 19th-century castle to renovate in Martigné-sur-Mayenne, in the north-west of France. Together with their family, the couple restores the chateau from its desolate state as it had not been inhabited for 45 years prior to their arrival, while trying to managing their family life and struggles at the same time. Escape to the Chateau is not Strawbridge's television appearance, as he has appeared on It's Not Easy Being Green, The Hungry Sailors, and Scrapheap Challenge as well, amongst other appearances. He is actually a former Lieutenant Colonel in the British Army, hence his nickname Colonel Dick. His partner Angela runs a hospitality business, and provides the creative factor and flair for Escape to the Chateau, that way forming a complementary, very can-do team with her husband.
