Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is an American television series written by, amongst others, Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Toy Story) and based on the fictional organization S.H.I.E.L.D. (StrategicHomelandIntervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division) created by Marvel Comics. This organization is a peacekeeping and espionage agency located in a world of superheroes. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set in the fictional Marvel Cinematic Universe and stars plenty of more or lesser known Marvel characters, including Daisy Johnson/Quake, agency director Phil Coulson and Grant Ward/Hive. The series has been the recipient of various awards over the years, including a Critics' Choice Television Award for Most Exciting New Series, a Television Critics Association award for Most Promising New Fall Series and a Teen Choice Award in the category Male Breakout Star (Brett Dalton).
