Cuifang comes to the diner. The chef is surprised. Dr Su presumes that Cuifang would go to the diner. He asks his student to take him to the diner to apologise to her. He opens out his heart to her and blames himself for not knowing how to get on with people. Dr Su says he is lucky to have a good therapist like Cuifang. His student seizes the opportunity and urges Dr Su to go back to teaching.
Cuifang now looks the same as a local. Dr Su has a brand new electric wheelchair, which he drives recklessly and scares Cuifang to death. Dr Su begins to teaching online, sharing his knowledge on heart surgery. He seems to have boundless energy.
Dr Su and Cuifang are playing backgammon when Cuifang receives a phone call and learns that her mother has passed away. She cries on Dr Su’s laps. Dr Su is sorry that he has been avoiding family life and decides to sack Cuifang. Cheng is puzzled. Dr Su tells Cuifang to pack. Cuifang is grateful but is also sorry to leave.
Cheng carries his dad to bed. Dr Su talks about Cheng’s childhood. He regrets that he has missed many events in Cheng’s life and says sorry to Cheng. Cheng holds his dad’s hand, deeply moved. Years of misunderstanding between the father and the son disappears.
Friends gather at the diner to say goodbye to see Cuifang off. Cuifang is deeply touched.
Cuifang thoroughly cleans the house, then says goodbye to Dr Su, who pretends to be asleep. Cuifang leaves in tears. Dr Su listens until the front door is closed.
At Midnight Diner, the new carer tries unsuccessfully to push Dr Su in his wheelchair into the diner. Dr Su has donated his new electric wheelchair to someone else and comes back to his old wheelchair. He nags at the new carer impatiently. The new carer is nearly in tears. She has yet to become Cuifang No.2.
