Erik and Nina live as law-abiding citizens in their small house with two kids and arguments over the dishes. In the midst of all of this, Jacqueline – their old fellow conspirator from a past life as con artists – resurfaces and pressures the married couple into a new, grandiose con.
Erik, Nina and Jacqueline are grilled by police investigators. It’s time to find out who the best liar is, and who can pull off the final trick to get away with the grand prize. An empty safe puts a dent in Patrick and Esther’s plans and Kaj must take his first steps alone in a big and strange world.
Erik slips into the role of his well-groomed alter ego, the mysterious businessman Frank Zeller, while Nina puts on a ski mask and breaks into InvoPharma’s offices. At home, Esther introduces the family to her new boyfriend, and Kaj wants to attend ice hockey practice with the cool kids.
One of InvoPharma’s employees pose a threat to the con, so the trio hound him to get him out of the game. Erik breaks a sweat when he goes on a Tinder date as Frank Zeller with Mads Morell as onlooker. Esther fears her parents’ odd behavior is a warning sign of an imminent divorce.
Nina disguises herself as the UN commissioner Birgitta Engdahl. Mads is working against their attempt at blackmail and the trio must think fast to save the mission. Esther seem to have inherited her parents’ skills, and with Patrick as her spy, she’s on to the mysterious Jacqueline.
The trio must perform the complicated double maneuver “The Corsican Mirror” inside the closely guarded UN building. Waiting in the car outside is a slightly sick Kaj, and the decreasing battery levels on his iPad threaten to make the entire house of cards come crashing down.
The big heist is done, and now the spoils have to be brought home. The two million euros in the trunk makes for a tense ride back. A collision with a married couple in a mobile home and a random police raid push the two con artists into a situation where everything can go south.
Erik and Nina are wallowing in their failure when Esther returns with revealing news – it now becomes clear how gullible they’ve been. Nina sharpens her claws and the hunt for Jacqueline and the lost millions is on. The couple must have the difficult talk with Esther about their past.
The spoils have shifted hands from Jacqueline to the Morell silverback, Severin. This becomes the hook that Erik and Nina can use to make her bite the dust. Those who were previously victims are now co-conspirators. Esther and Patrick launch their own dreams and plans.
Everything is being prepared for the day the money lands in InvoPharma’s bank account. The family ventures into the lion’s den to be at the table during the sales negotiations, but it requires finesse, teamwork and deftness, and Esther proves she truly is the daughter of her parents.
