Robson explores the remotest corner of Australia’s biggest state to understand how people live and work cut off and isolated from the rest of the country. He’ll begin by hitching a lift on a helicopter taking supplies out to the only marine barramundi fish farm in Australia, where the workers are so cut off they call their tiny island base ‘Alcatraz’. Robson will dive to help mend the nets, as a three metre saltwater crocodile prowls nearby. He’ll experience the passion and intensity of racing hermit crabs in the area’s biggest town, before hitting the dirt tracks to find an Aboriginal elder who lives off the land. Robson will be taught how to forage for dinner before his final journey to a mechanic based on the legendary Gibb River Road, and whose nearest shop is 100km away.
Robson Green's Australian Adventure was broadcast on SBS ONE at Friday 8 February 2019, 09:30.
