This iconic Korean drama tells the story of Park Shi-on, an autistic young man with savant syndrome, who becomes a pediatric surgical specialist overcoming social prejudice. This first episode starts as Shi-on boards a train for the first time to begin his residency in Seoul. However, he sees a child critically injured at the station and treats him, and ends up being late to the meeting with the hospital board. Meanwhile, when the board refuses to hire a doctor with autism, President Choi of the hospital puts his position on the line and asks them to give Shi-on six months to prove himself.

The Good Doctor is an American medical drama based on a popular television series of the same name from South Korea. The original was written by Park Jae-Bum, but it was actor Daniel Dae Kim (Lost, Hawaii Five-O) who bought the rights and adapted the series for the American and English-speaking markets. David Shore, creator of the hugely successful medical drama House MD, eventually developed The Good Doctor for television. The series revolves around Shaun Murphy, portrayed by Freddie Highmore (Women Talking Dirty, The Spiderwick Chronicles, a young surgical resident at the fictional San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital in Casper, Wyoming, with autism and the extremely rare savant syndrome. For this role, he was even nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the category Best Actor – Television Series Drama, while the series as a whole has been nominated for various awards over the years, including the Critics' Choice Television Awards and ASCAP Screen Music Awards.
