Season 1
Kateb is detached, he comes to the office in the morning and doesn't do anything. The producer suggests that he makes his own version to Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, only with politicians instead of comedians.
Kateb is stressed out before a meeting with the broadcasting company about his new TV series. An encounter with a fellow writer reminds him that he hasn't written a book in a long time.
Assaf, an old acquaintance asks to meet with Kateb. In the meeting he tells Kateb that he had left home for true love. For a moment, Kateb is moved. But a moment later, he understands the real picture.
Kateb wakes up very early in the morning and looks at his sleeping wife and children. He takes a suitcase and leaves for the Arab Literature Festival in Lucera, Italy.
Following a night of drinking, Kateb has sex with a fan. She is beautiful, Jewish, smart, and she truly admires him. The following morning, as his family is getting ready for the day, Kateb wishes he were dead.
A German journalist arrives to write a piece about Kateb. Kateb has no patience for his stupid questions, and the journalist does not understand the complexity in Kateb's writings.
Yasmine, Kateb's daughter, has to do a genealogy project for school. Kateb tells her she is exempt: Why would a person drag along the heavy burden of history? A random encounter with a friend causes him to change his mind.
Kateb realises what is the series he wants to write. It is a series about an intelligent, successful man, an Arab liberal, who isn't too happy with himself and has issues with his wife. Nobody really understands the series, but nobody wants to block Kateb.
