Ida Waage is a trusted CFO in one of Norway’s biggest law firms, Biermann and Gude, when a suspicious invoice lands on her desk. Ida discovers that the invoice is an attempt to launder a money transaction on behalf of the firm’s biggest client, the billionaire Peer Eggen, one of Norway’s richest and mightiest businessmen.
Ida chooses to warn the other leaders in the firm. The consequences are swift and brutal, and reach a crescendo when Ida is accused of harassing her employees in a humiliating meeting. Ida realizes the accusations are fabricated, and decide to bring the matter to the managing partner, Christian Gude.
A shaken Ida discuss the case with her brother-in-law and lawyer, Ola, who advise her to bring the case to police. Ida’s husband, Tore, is against it, saying that the risks are greater than the rewards; her situation could worsen, not just for herself but also for her step-son Jonas, who also work for B & G.
The police begin their investigation, and Ida knows it’s just a question of time before Eirik shows up at B & G’s door and the latter realises that she’s a whistleblower.
