Shane Warne State Memorial ServiceSeason 2022, Episode 1

The official State Memorial Service to honour former Australian test cricketer Shane Warne was held on the 30th of March, 2022, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Considered by many as possibly the greatest spin bowler of all time, Warne was immensely popular not just in Australia, but among cricket fans around the world. The Victoria native passed away at the age of 52 in Ko Samui, Thailand, having made 145 Test appearances over his career, taking an incredible 708 wickets. The Shane Warne State Memorial Service started with a minute of silence, followed by a Welcome to the Country and the Australian national anthem. Throughout the service, a plethora of friends, family, former teammates, and artists honoured Warne with messages, video tributes, and live performances. Among the most famous characters to pay their respects were Elton John, Chris Martin and Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran.
