Fargo is an American drama series written for television and often referred to as well as a “black comedy-crime drama”. The series is based on the 1996 movie of the same name which was written and directed by the Coen brothers. Joel and Ethan Coen, four-time Academy Award winners, are also involved in this show as executive producers. The story takes place in and around the small town of Bemidji, in Minnesota, where a strange drifter (Billy Bob Thornton) arrives and starts to influence the local community in a deceiving and voilent way. Insurance salesman Lester (portrayed by Martin Freeman) is particularly affected by his ways. At the same time the local police force, in the person of Deputy Molly Solverson (Allison Tolman) and office Gus Grimly (Colin Hanks) investigate a series of homicides that might be connected to Lester and the strange drifter Lorne Malvo.
