The Inspector Lynley Mysteries
The Inspector Lynley Mysteries is a British crime drama series written for television for original broadcasting on BBC One and adapted from the novels of the same name by the American writer Elizabeth George. The story of the show revolves around a pair of Scotland Yard Detectives with vastly different backgrounds and characters who are tasked with solving complex and often very tense murder cases. A total of 24 episodes spread over six seasons has been produced. The protagonists of the series are Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley, the posh 8th Earl of Asherton, portrayed by Nathaniel Parker (Merlin, Of Kings and Prophets), and the unsophisticated Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers, played by Sharon Small (Law & Order: UK, Trust Me). Throughout the series, these two very different personalities clash, which often has an impact on the solving of their cases as well. The Inspector Lynley Mysteries were also aired in the United States, on PBS as part of their Mystery! series.
