Suncorp Super Netball
Suncorp Super Netball, which is also known as the National Netball League, is the premier netball league in Australia. This is the successor to the ANZ Championship, a Trans-Tasman netball league formed when Netball Australia and Netball New Zealand fused. Once netball became a semi-professional sport Netball Australia formed a nationally exclusive league accompanied by better broadcasting and larger media deals. As of 2016, Suncorp Super Netball consists of eight teams, five of which came from the ANZ Championship, such as the Adelaide Thunderbirds, the Melbourne Vixens and the West Coast Fever, and three of which were newly founded (the Collingwood Magpies, Giants Netball and the Sunshine Coast Lightning). The three new clubs are owned by teams from the Australian Football League and the National Rugby League.
