Absentia is an American-made thriller drama series written for television that stars Canadian actress Stana Katic (Castle, Heroes), Australian actor Matthew Le Nevez (Offspring, The Kettering Incident), and American actor Patrick Heusinger (Gossip Girl, Royal Pains) in the main roles. The story revolves around the disappearance of a FBI Special Agent Emily Byrne while she is investigating and hunting one of Boston's most notorious serial killers. She is declared dead in absentia, hence the show's title, before she is found in a cabin in the woods six years later, barely alive and with no recollection of what happened to her. The series premiered as the opening selection at the 57th Monte Carlo Television Festival and was released in various countries around the world soon after that, including Australia, Sweden, and Denmark.
