Apple Tree Yard is a British thriller series written for television by English screenwriter and novelist Amanda Coe (Life in Squares, Filth: The Mary Whitehouse Story) and based on the 2013 novel of the same name by English writer Louise Doughty. The 4-part series is about Dr. Yvonne Carmichael, a conflicted and unhappily married fifty-something year old scientist who gets into a risky affair with a man who she knows nothing about. English actress Emily Watson (Uncle Vanya, Twelfth Night) portrays the lead role of Dr. Yvonne Carmichael. She is joined by a talented cast of mostly British acting talent, including Scottish actor Mark Bonnar (Psychoville, Line of Duty) as Dr. Gary Carmichael, English actor and writer Ben Chaplin (The Letter for the King, Mad Dogs) as Yvonne's lover Mark Costley, and English actor and screenwriter Steven Elder (The King, Good) as Yvonne's long-term friend George Selway.
