Housos is an Australian comedy series written for television, and created and directed by the well-known Australian filmmaker Paul Fenech (Swift and Shift Couriers, Housos vs. Authority). The show is a parody of the daily lives of low income Australians living in Housing Commission public housing, in the fictional suburb Sunnyvale. It is said to be inspired by the Canadian series Trailer Park Boys. Housos was initially almost prohibited from airing after real-life residents of public housing in western Sydney has complained about the series. Eventually the parodied take on life in public housing was accepted and the show went on to win several awards and nominations, including an Australian Writers' Guid Award nomination in the category Comedy (Situation or Narrative) and a Logie Award in 201 for Most Outstanding Light Entertainment Program.
